2014 .... THE YEAR OF AWESOME CHALLENGES

Here we are at the end of 2013.  Wow, can’t believe just how quickly the year has flown.  When you were young it seemed to take forever to get from January, at the beginning to December at the end of the year.  Really once Christmas was over in December, you were looking forward to the next December when Santa would come again.

I for one am really excited about 2014.  I am looking forward to all the changes that are going to be happening in my life.  I am looking forward to the challenges that I have decided to give myself this year.  I am excited about The Ride to Conquer Cancer which happens on the 29th and 30th of November and the unique challenge that this is going to bring for me; that of riding a bike 200klm over 2 days.  Most of all I am excited about achieving the goals I have set for myself along the way: losing weight and increasing my fitness & strength.

I went online yesterday to look at ladies road cycles.  I found one that I really liked and that I thought would really suit me.  I haven’t ridden a bike since I was a lot younger: now there’s a scary thought, me on a bicycle and a road bike at that.  Still not to be deterred, I know that I will get there in the end.  The bike will have to wait a few months yet for both financial reasons and the fact that I need to do a bit of training and lose a bit more weight before I embark on the whole bike riding part of the challenge.

I have rung a personal trainer and am hoping to find one as soon as I can so that I can get some direction along the journey and be physically prepared to meet the challenge.  I am sure that she is going to see me as a very big challenge once we meet.

So now I am staring to see things happening and that is exciting for me.  Now to keep motivated and on track .... and to wear that skinny dress to my son's wedding in November.
