MY CROCHET PROJECT ..... DAY 19 of BLOGTOBERFEST

YAY FOR THE DOWNLOADED PHOTOS!!!!
Can you hear me cheering. This is my crochet project. Actually it's not quite completed, but I am well on the way.

These photos are a little blurry, but I think you get the idea. I've never actually followed a crochet pattern before, so this is my very first attempt. I have made granny squares, taught by my grandmother, but as for following a pattern this is my first effort. I had to work it out all by myself and now that I have I feel very clever. I don't actually know how good my crocheting is purely because I have nothing to compare it to, but I'm pretty happy with the job I've done.

The end result is going to be a shawl. You had to make 108 of the rounds then join the rounds together in a row of 6. You then join the rows of 6 together.

I have about 8 more rounds to do and then I start joining all the rounds together. I started out by crocheting 6 of the rounds and was joining them together as I went but that seemed a lot more long winded. I thought it easier to do all the rounds first join them together.

It's taken me a while to get to this point, but I have really enjoyed this project. It has made me realise that I can crochet and teach myself to follow a pattern to boot. My grandmother would be proud of me, and just quietly I wish she was here to see it.

Will post a picture when I have the finished product.

This looks terrific! Love the colour. I think you have done a great job - isn't crochet fun? I love how it grows quickly and the intricate patterns you can make. I'm workinf on some pants from Grandma's old pattern book - need to make 100 flowers!

thanks for the compliment .... I wasn't sure if it was even enough or not, but I'm not being too stressed and fussy. It's a first attempt. Crochet is fun, I love it because you can do it quickly and unlike knitting you don't have to carry needles and bulky garments with you everywhere. I'd love to see your pants with the 100 flowers, that would be really good.
