FINALLY FOUND ..... ONE TOY MAKING BOOK..... Day 6 of Blogtoberfest

Alexander the Caterpillar

Tilly the Doll

Pearl the Zebra

Darcy the Dinosaur

Gerbera the Giraffe

Polly the Pig

I've wanted to make soft toys for the longest time, but have never really been able to find anything that I liked enough to have a go. Finely yesterday I went to a local quilting shop and while browsing I found this book ............and I love it !!

The toys are just gorgeous ..... so nice. On display in the shop were some of the toys, which incidentally had been made by the sister of the lady who owns the shop. They are just so nice, really cute, and toys that I'm sure any child, or big kid (LOL !!) ... would absolutely love. I love the fabrics that have been used, so pretty and bright.

I have also been wanting to have quilting lessons and I found out that the shop has classes as well. I am craft minded and can sew and I'm sure I could teach myself, however, I do like the idea of having an experienced quilter teaching me, and giving me their tips for doing a better job. Apparently, according to my youngest daughter, my first quilting project is going to be a quilt for her bed. I figure that something so large might be a bit ambitious, but not one to shirk a challenge, I've decided to take her request on board. I think as long as the pattern is relatively simple I will succeed.

For your information the book is called ..... SEWN TOY TALES by Rosalie Quinlan and Melanie Hurlston and it is one of the nicest toy making books that I have seen.

Oh my goodness those toys look fantastic! Is the book Australian? If so, I will have to get a relative to send it to me (I'm an Aussie living in the UK!)
I'm sure your first project will be lovely :)

Quilting classes are great fun, even for the more experienced quilter. I think you will do great!

SARAH, the book is actually from the UK .... the website is on the back of the book .... www.rucraft.co.uk. They have some gorgeous books and this one is under 12pound on that site. They have some other really gorgeous books as well.

JESS, I'm sure I'll love the quilting classes ... I've wanted to do it for so long now .... I just have to take the plunge.

The authors are Aussies, they desgn really cute toys! Classes are great fun, even if you know how. It's helpful to see how others do it I think.
