This will only be a short post tonight. Today I OFFICIALLY REGISTERED to ride in The Lightsview Ride to Conquer Cancer – to aid medical research into cancer through the Flinders Medical Centre. The ride is 200klm on the 29th and 30th of November this year in South Australia. I have put up a button at the side so that people can donate – so please go ahead and donate to this worthwhile cause.
I have set a goal at this point to raise $3,200, but I have to raise minimum $2,500 to ride, but I hope to raise way more than that and as much as I can.
I have a way to go till I get fit enough to actually ride, but I have already started on my journey by walking and am losing weight. I weighed myself this morning and in the past 2 weeks I have lost 3.2kgs. I was cheering and crying in the bathroom when I weighed myself, and feeling so excited and happy and my daughter called out from outside the door, “are you ok mum” … I think she thought something serious had happened. But it was just me, myself and I, expressing my excitement and joy.
My friends and family have been so supportive and it has been an emotional roller coaster (but good emotion) this week. I think because I have made a decision to do something and it feels wonderful.
I start at the gym in the morning with a personal trainer at 0615 and I am excited and nervous at the same time, but wondering just where this journey will take me.
I have wanted to write a book for the longest time now and have decided that I am going to write a book on my journey at the end of all this. I hope that one day my experience will inspire someone else to make a decision and do something with his or her life.
It is the best decision that I have ever make.
